According to this tweet from Bob McKenzie, the Bruins have picked up 24-year-old center Landon Ferraro from the Red Wings.
Drafted 32nd overall by the Wings in 2009, Ferraro cracked the Wings' opening-day roster for the first time in his career and has played ten games with no points this season. Previously, he had played seven regular-season games (scoring his first NHL goal) and all seven games of the Red Wings' loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the quarterfinals.
In the AHL, Ferraro has scored 140 points in 270 regular-season games and 19 points in 33 playoff games. He has also had a fair bit of success in the A, winning the Calder Cup in 2013.
Ferraro is described by those who have watched him as a crease crasher who can skate, shoot, and pas as well as the next guy. "Tenacious" is a word that comes up a lot. On the defensive side of the game, Ferraro does well and has been praised for his play in the defensive zone.
It is unclear whether or not he'll be in the lineup next game against Toronto, but with both David Pastrnak and Frank Vatrano out of the lineup, he should be a solid bet to play a few games with the Spoked B on his chest.
